Though claiming to have acquired a modern and tech-driven new avatar, the airport has turned into a nightmare for the hapless passengers, who are not only subjected to gross inconveniences but also extortion in the guise of car parking.
Tourists, travellers and their acquaintances - none is spared at the airport where the parking guys rule the roost. Most often the vehicle owners or drivers of private cars and taxis are forced to shell out parking fees irrespective of their compliance with the five minute time limit set for entry and exiting the terminal zone.
What is worse, the parking personnel resort to strong-arm tactics to extract the fees and every protestation of the hapless person that he is well under the fixed five minutes falls on their deaf ears. The activity is blatantly carried out under the nose of the airport authorities who have incomprehensibly turned a blind eye to the problem despite the fact that the matter is subjudice after a writ petition was filed on it last year.
