MAS GMR venture forays into aircraft line maintenance

Hyderabad: MAS GMR Aero Technic Ltd (MGAT) has forayed into the aircraft line maintenance business, inking its first contract with British Airways to provide the service for its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The firm, a joint venture between Malaysian Aerospace Engineering and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, also opened its office at the engineering building in the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport complex.
The development marks the company’s plans to provide comprehensive maintenance support to airlines flying in and out of India. It will soon expand its services to other airports in the country.
Currently, it has line maintenance approval from DGCA for Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
It is also performing redelivery checks on two Boeing 737 aircraft along with regular C-checks. It has an aircraft paint hangar and has invested in infrastructure that can paint a narrow-body aircraft.
