A policeman from the United States of America booked for allegedly carrying live cartridges at the IGI airport has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an end to the criminal proceedings.
Manny Encarnacion, an officer of the New York Police Department was arrested by authorities at the international airport in March this year. According to the police, his luggage search revealed live cartridges and he was arrested. Justice Sunil Gaur on Thursday asked the police to furnish a report on Encarnacion's arrest but refused to release his passport that has been since confiscated. However HC extended his interim bail till July 1. In his plea to HC, the US policeman has sought the case against him be quashed. Urging the court to intervene the petitioner has rubbished the charges against him saying they were unwittingly left in the bag.
