Guwahati: Residents of west Guwahati have vowed to intensify their movement against the government's move to privatize LGBI airport, the only international airport of the northeast.
After police stopped their agitation on Monday, BJP and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) activists joined hands with these residents under the aegis of Dakshin Kamrup Janaswartha Surksha Samity (DKJSS) to oppose the government's decision to privatize the airport. "If the Union ministry of civil aviation hands over the LGBI airport to private firms, then it is crystal clear that the present Union government's motive is to deprive the poor cultivators who had donated their lands for construction of the airport in exchange of a modest amount of money.
