230 turtles from India seized

Samut Prakan:  Customs officials seized 230 Hamilton turtles left by traffickers at Suvarnabhumi airport on Wednesday. The turtles were packed in four suitcases which arrived on IndiGo Airlines flight 6E077 from Kolkata. They were found unattended in the arrival area inside the airport.
The flight left the Indian city at 8.45pm on Tuesday and landed at the Bangkok airport on 0.55am on Wednesday, according to the airline website.
The baggage bore the names Hashamudd M, Dantsh Zafa, Shamsad SK and Wasi Akram, Customs Department deputy chief Paisal Cheunjit said.
The department estimated the value of the turtles at 1 million baht, although the price tag could be much more in the market.
