Aviation Ministry gears up for BJP-led NDA govt

Based on the BJP's manifesto, the Aviation Ministry is gearing up for the change of guard at the Centre. CNBC-TV18 learns that the ministry has worked out an agenda for the new government. It is very clear that civil aviation ministry perhaps, is the first ministry of the block in terms of preparing for the new government. In fact, in just a short while from now, the civil aviation secretary would be submitting this proposal to the cabinet secretary. This is based on the overall theme of the BJP manifesto that laid emphasis on wanting to set up 50 tourism centres across the country. In light of the same, the Civil Aviation Ministry has been proposed to set up of airports in about 50 tier-II and tier-III towns. To have viable airports, incentivizing airlines to fly into these zones will be required. The incentive package offered is some of these airlines will be granted exclusive access to these tier-II, tier-III towns. In addition, they would be exempt from any of the airport charges amounting to significant taxes that they currently have to bear.
