CBI welcome to probe Kingfisher Airlines loan case: SBI Chief

SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya has said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is welcome to investigate the Kingfisher Airlines loan default case.
She said this in reaction to a business daily report which had said CBI was sent empty-handed by SBI officials in a case involving a loan to Kingfisher Airlines.
Speaking exclusively to IndiaToday.in, Bhattacharya, the SBI chairperson and managing director of SBI, said, "There was no incident of CBI not being allowed into the building or any official not cooperating."
SBI is the lead banker in the 17-bank consortium that granted a Rs.6,000-crore loan to Kingfisher Airlines. SBI had lent Rs.1,500 crore of it. This loan is now marked as "bad debt".
When asked if the CBI would like to take over the Kingfisher Airlines case and if the SBI have any problem with it, Bhattacharya said, "What issue can we have? They are welcome."
