DGCA nabs US pilot working illegally with private airline since January this year

An American pilot was found illegally working with a private jet operator since January this year during a surprise inspection of civil aviation regulator DGCA last month.
The pilot, identified as Captain Edmond Danvers Clifford, had fudged with the validity of Foreign Aircrew Temporary Authorization (FATA), a mandatory permission for foreign pilots operating planes in India. Clifford was employed by Air One Aviation Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi, the DGCA said.
Based on the DGCA's written complaint, the Delhi Police on Saturday registered a case against Clifford under Section 466, 471 and 474 of the IPC. After taking legal advice, the police plans to arrest the pilot. Sleuths will also probe if there was involvement of any official of Air One Aviation Pvt. Ltd.
The plane, which was operated by the foreign pilot, was in service of various ministers of Uttar Pradesh and other party leaders as well for general election, an official said.
