Kolkata: Budget airline GoAir plans to start international operations from April next year, even as it wants to maintain focus on domestic operations with passenger output on the rise.
GoAir CEO Girgio De Roni said the carrier will deploy 13% of its capacity to international operations within five years from the start, while the rest would remain in domestic service.
India’s aviation market is catering to 11.7 crore domestic passengers and 4.30 lakh international passengers a year. The civil aviation ministry has projected this to go up to 33.7 crore and 8.4 crore respectively by 2020.
