Dehradun: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi during his campaign in Uttarakhand allegedly used the chopper service of a company whose owner is still under the CBI scanner in the multi-crore Tatra truck scam. Global Vectra, which provided the helicopter to the Congress leader, is owned by Ravi Rishi, main accused in the scam.
In 2012, the firm had landed in a controversy after former army chief General VK Singh had blown the lid off the Tatra scam. General Singh is now a BJP candidate from the Ghaziabad constituency.
Congress leaders in Dehradun refrained from making any comments about Gandhi scion's chopper. On April 29, a Bell 412 helicopter flew off with Rahul from Jolly Grant for Gauchar helipad where he held series of public meets in Chamoli. It then flew to Almora and Kashipur where he had campaigned.
Reacting to Gandhi using the Global Vectra's chopper for election campaigning, BJP leader Ajay Bhatt said, "Everyone knows about the Tatra scam and the CBI probe. The Congress leaders have no moral right to talk about corruption now. This should be probed at the highest level to know why and how Congress is using choppers of the company which has a pending CBI case and is involved in Tatra truck deals."
