Airasia India Has To Allow For 15 Kg Free Check-In Baggage

New Delhi: Like other Indian carriers, AirAsia India too has to allow for 15 kg's of free check-in baggage per passenger, India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ruled.
DGCA chief Prabhat Kumar has ordered the airline to reduce a number of other charges which it had introduced, but which were found to be "way too high" by the regulator, the Hindustan Times reported.
When it opened bookings on May 30, the airline decided to charge Rs199 (RM10.84) on luggage up to 15 kg.
However, the aviation regulator intervened and ordered the airline, which begins operations on June 12, to stop charging passengers for check-in baggage.
According to the report, the regulator has also asked the airline to cut its "high" charges for carriage of sports equipment, as it presently charges Rs799 (RM43.46) for up to 15 kg.
