Airport removes 12 billboards

Mumbai: The hoardings at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) are proving deterrent for aircrafts. Due to their large size, the carriers have been forced to carry fewer passengers to fly light, so as to ascend in time to clear the hoardings.
Following objections from the carriers, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started removing these billboards. Within a couple of days, all objectionable hoardings will be lowered down, said civic officials.
Additional municipal commissioner M.M. Adtani said, “There were 12 such billboards which were proving to be an obstacle for the aircrafts. Following complaints from carrier companies, we have started removing them.”
According to the civic officials, five such hoardings have already been removed and the remaining will be removed in a couple of days.
