Mumbai/Bangalore: What better way to unwind over the weekend than to take an aerial tour of your city, go for a lazy Sunday brunch and top it up with a luxury cab ride, all at the tap of a button on your smartphone? San Francisco-based taxi-hailing mobile app Uber, known for its quirky marketing and promotions globally, is giving a chance to Mumbai and Bangalore residents to take a tour of their city in a chopper this weekend for Rs 4,999.
The much-storied Californian startup, which was in the news recently for being valued at $17 billion post its latest round of fund-raise led by Fidelity Investments, is taking couples for a 30-minute helicopter ride at 11,000 feet along with a luxury car service and a brunch at a swish restaurant. Uber's aviation partner for the promotion is Deccan Charters, which would fly the guests in a Eurocopter.
Uber delivered Christmas trees for a day during last year's holiday season across ten American cities. It also ran a promotion in the US on National Cat Day where it offered 15 minutes of on-demand kitten playtime delivered right to the doorstep, helping it publicize its app service through these marketing stunts.
