'Clandestine Move behind Project'

Kochi: Cutting across Fronts, political leaders holding key posts were influenced clandestinely by many to get approval for the construction of an airport at Aranmula, alleged Government Chief whip P C George.
“A letter was written by an LDF MLA to the then chief minister to clear the hurdles for the development of the airport. The letter became controversial as it was written in the ‘Oxford’ style by someone who did not even know how to write a leave letter in English. However, the people of the State were astonished when the subsequent UDF government also supported the project,” George said.
“The government was unable not defend the allegation that the decision to acquire ten percent equity in the project was at the behest of politicians and  bureaucrats who were having a nexus. Thus, the intervention of the invisible forces became evident, and the people were convinced that money could buy anything, when the project found a place even in a presidential address during the rule of the UPA Government. This makes it clear that leaders of both the UDF and the LDF where influenced for implementing the  project,” he said. He termed the project as an evil offspring of the ‘filthiness’ of money and the arrogance.
