Kannur airport to be ready for trials by Dec 2015

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kannur International Airport in Kerala will be ready for trials by December next year. Commercial operations are expected to begin five months later in May, 2016.

Minister for Excise, Ports and Civil Aviation K Babu told mediapersons here that the passenger terminal building facility at the integrated terminal will run into 75,000 sq ft.

The domestic and international terminals will be able to handle up to 2,000 passengers during peak hours. The terminal will feature 48 check-in counters; 32 emigration counters; and 16 escalators.

Other passenger facilities include duty-free shops, pedestrian bridges, and a road linking the terminal building with the car park.
