Karipur airport terminal work to be retendered again

Kozhikode: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) is forced to retender the contract for the new international arrival terminal at the Karipur airport as the contractor who had bagged the works of the around Rs 100 crore project has failed to turn up to undertake the work.

The Karipur airport authorities have written to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) headquarters to cancel the contract and retender the long-delayed work, which is likely to result in further delays. Also the cost of the project is likely to shoot up by another Rs 10 crore due to the delay.

The AAI had awarded the contract for the international arrival terminal spread over an area of 17,000 sq metres to a Hyderabad-based company in January. But despite repeated notices by the airport authorities, the company has failed to commence the works.
