Pressure on Siddaramaiah to Get More Flights to Mysore

Mysore: With Mysore airport operating flights only between Mysore and Chennai, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and airport officials are keen on more flights before the Dasara festivities. This will boost tourism and attract investments in the industrial and tourism sectors.
Knowing that the region will develop further if there are more flights connecting Mysore to the rest of the country, Siddaramaiah may hold talks with airport and Air Costa (a regional airline based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh) officials next week in Bangalore.
Air Costa that started flights to new destinations like Visakhapatnam and Coimbatore, has shown interest in Mysore airport. However, nothing progressed as they have not approached the airport officials.
SpiceJet, operating five days a week between Mysore and Chennai via Bangalore from January 14, 2013, has recorded an average of 40 per cent passenger traffic. SpiceJet that has hinted at starting morning and evening flights between Mysore and Bangalore, has backed out as they realised that setting up a base would be an additional burden.
