Nagpur: Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur may soon have a new x-ray machine to screen luggage as the tender process for acquiring one by the airport has already begun.
However, some digital display boards notifying passengers about arrival and departure of flights have still remained non-functional.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), in one of its security and safety surveys had suggested that Nagpur acquire an extra x-ray machine for screening passenger luggage. The current machine is inside the terminal building and operated by airlines. The new one will be manned by the Central Industrial Security Forces outside the terminal building and used for random checks.
"The bids have already come and we expect to get the machine in a few months time," said senior airport director P Anil Kumar. But even as a new addition to enhance security at the airport is set to come, some of the digital display boards showing the arrival and departure of flights at the airport are yet to be repaired.
