Toddler's hand gets stuck in escalator at Cochin International Airport

Kochi:  A three-year-old boy's left hand got stuck in an escalator at the Cochin International Airport early morning on Saturday.

The boy identified as Mohammed Hadi, son of Abbas of Eloor, had arrived on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah with his parents and was descending on the escalator with them when he accidentally slid his hand into the space between the stationary and moving part of the escalator. He was sitting on the escalator steps.

The child cried out, following which the running escalator was immediately stopped by staff.

By then the boy's fingers had got stuck in the machine. It was after a 15-minute effort by the staff that his hand was freed. The boy was rushed to Little Flower Hospital at Angamaly, where doctors found that his finger was fractured. The boy was discharged on Saturday after being treated, sources at the airport said.
