2.9 kg gold seized from two passengers

Chennai: Undocumented gold to the tune of 2.9 kg were today seized in separate incidents at the airport here and two persons arrested in this connection, airport authorities said.

In the first incident, customs officials found 1.2 kg of gold concealed in the belongings of a 17-year-old boy after he alighted from a flight from Kuwait around 6 am, they said.

Investigations revealed he is a native of Rajahmundry of Andhra Pradesh, they said.

In the other incident, Mohammed Gouse Sheik of Rajampettai in Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh, who arrived here from Bahrain around 6 am was found with 1.7 kg gold.

The gold was seized and both were arrested by airport police.
