Case against nurse may be dropped

Kochi:  The case registered against a Malayali nurse, whose phone call forced an Air India flight to Delhi make an emergency landing in Bangalore, will not stand in a court of law, the public prosecutor (Aluva) informed the Nedumbassery police on Monday.

A case was registered on an Air India complaint that its Delhi-bound flight AI-047 with 156 passengers and eight crew members had to land in Bangalore following K B Pratheesh's call to the Nedumbassery airport on June 30. The emergency landing resulted in loss to the tune of lakhs or rupees, Air India had said in the complaint.
Following the incident, Pratheesh was picked by the police in Delhi-where he has been working as a nurse-and grilled for over 18 hours. His colleague, who was in the diverted flight, too was summoned to the station for recording her statement.
