Civil airport project pending awaiting state govt order

Bareilly: The much-awaited city airport project is hanging fire due to lack of clearance from the state government, despite local farmers having agreed to sell land to the government for the project.

"The divisional commissioner has not yet given his approval for the project as the state government's order regarding acquisition of farmers' land is yet to be received," Laxmi Shankar Singh, special land acquisition officer, said, adding that there was no knowing when the order would be issued.

The agreement with the farmers in which they gave their acceptance in written to the officials to acquire 10 hectare plot at around 29.65 crore around a month back, has to be approved by divisional commissioner, K Ravindra Nayak. After the approval of divisional commissioner, the entire procedure of acquiring the land from the farmers and undertaking civil work have to be started.
