Gold worth Rs 24 lakh seized by customs at Mumbai airport

Mumbai: In three separate incidents, Mumbai Customs caught three passengers trying to smuggle gold into the city on Tuesday.
Two of the individuals trying to smuggle in gold were on the same flight Air India's AI-331 from Bangkok.
In the first case, Customs arrested Vikas Kishan Grover, who had arrived from Bangkok on Air India flight, and seized three gold pieces weighing 407 grams from him. The three pieces are valued at Rs 10,46,918 and were recovered from the passenger's rectum.
In the second incident, four gold pieces weighing 508 grams was seized. The gold is valued at Rs 13,06,718 and was again recovered from rectum of one Sunil Srichand Thawani, who had arrived from Bangkok by flight AI-331.
