Jet Passengers Suffer Sans AC for 25 Minutes

Bangalore:  Passengers travelling between Goa and Bangalore on a SpiceJet flight were stranded inside the aircraft at the Goa airport for more than 25 minutes without the central air-conditioning working. This led to many passengers complaining of claustrophobia and fatigue owing to excess heat inside.

According to Ponnuse Cherian, a passenger on Flight 246, the temperature inside was already high when passengers boarded the plane. The flight, scheduled to take off at 2.50 pm, finally departed at 3.30 pm.

“It was very hot and we kept hoping that the air-conditioning would be switched on. All of us had to drink two-three glasses of water. The elderly and children on the flight suffered the most. The air-conditioning vents were releasing only normal air which was not enough,” he said.

Cherian said the flight attendants did not announce anything, but when questioned later, they said that there was a technical glitch. However, the air-conditioning started working after take-off, he added.
