Thiruvananthapuram: Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram Director P Parameswaran has said that Finance Minister K M Mani, who is known for his commitment to the working class, particularly the rural agricultural labourers, has, however, contradicted his own pro-working class theory through his statement the other day that Aranmula airport project would be implemented at any cost.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Parameswaran said that it was a rude shock to him to see Mani’s latest statement that he would see to it that the proposed Aranmula airport was implemented whatever the cost might be.
‘’It is a fact that the highest authority on environment issues, The Green Tribunal, has rejected the plan for an airport at Aranmula by terming it as harmful to environment and ordered that it should not be given permission.
It was also noticed that permission given by the State Government headed by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was dubious in its nature’’ he pointed out.
Close on the heels of the Chief Minister, the Finance Minister has now come out with all-out support for the questionable proposal, he said.
