AI flight turns back after tech snag

Mumbai: An Air India Express aircraft—bound for Mangalore—on Friday turned back and landed after its landing gear failed to retract. The incident took place after flight IX 208, scheduled for an 11.30am departure, took off around 12.20pm.

"There was some technical problem with the aircraft," said a source. The captain is believed to have told the passengers that the aircraft had an engine problem, which has been rectified.

But soon, it had another problem when the landing gear failed to retract after take-off. "The problem was with the aircraft's computer system. The captain decided to return and the flight landed safely," said an AI spokesperson.
