AirAsia introduces Premium Flex for passengers

Chennai: AirAsia has launched Premium Flex, a new service which gives passengers an option to change their flight twice without a penalty.
The service launched by AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes in Kuala Lumpur includes complimentary 20kg baggage allowance, Xpress boarding and Xpress baggage and other perks, primarily targeting business travellers.
The option to change flights is likely to be a game changer in the industry at a time when passengers have to pay a penalty for changing their already booked flights.
Industry insiders say other airliners are also likely to introduce this at a time when ticket cancellations make the airlines fly with empty seats.
Talking to media, Fernandes said AirAsia India would be introducing at least one aircraft every month. Load factor in the already introduced routes are much higher than what it had earlier budgeted and the airline would be introducing new services to Jaipur and Chandigarh from Bangalore from September.
The airline triggered a price war in the aviation industry in India by introducing a flight on Bangalore-Goa route on June 12 with a ticket fare of Rs 990, including taxes.
"We must keep innovating and improving our products and services to maintain and remain on the cutting-edge," Fernandes said.
