Four Accused in SEZ Gold Seizure Case Granted Bail

Kochi:  Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offence) on Thursday granted bail to four accused in a case of smuggling 22 kg of gold from Kochi Special Economic Zone(SEZ).

The court also dismissed the petition filed by the Customs Department seeking the custody of the two accused in the case.

The court granted bail to the accused Sanjay Subba Rao Nigam, managing director of Ashwini Gold which was operating in the SEZ, import-export consultants B Jayakumar and T R Saji, and Jeeson Davis, an  employee of a jewellery store in Angamaly.

The court ordered the accused persons to furnish a bail bond of `10 lakhs as Demand Draft before Friday afternoon, as the condition for granting bail.

Other than this, the accused persons have  also been asked to execute a bond of `5 lakhs with two solvent sureties.
