Heliport hub planned to serve air ambulances

Gurgaon: Gurgaon district administration is mulling a proposal to set up a 'heliport hub' in the city for disaster management and air ambulance. The heliport can also be used for police patrolling and media coverage of disasters.

A company called KP Aviation Pvt Ltd presented a proposal during a meeting held by deputy commissioner (DC) Shekhar Vidyarthi in his office on Monday. The helipad hub is expected to be set up somewhere along NH-8 and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in the city.

According to Col Sanjay Singh, the chief operating officer (COO) of the company, a helicopter will remain stationed at the hub which can be used for evacuation of victims and ferrying relief material as and when required. The helicopter can also be used for police patrolling in case of an emergency, when it is not possible to access a spot via the road. Interestingly, media will also be able to use the chopper to get first-hand information about such an incident, so that they' can file an accurate report.
