Of smuggling gold in chocolate packs

Chennai: A novel method to smuggle gold — concealing them in chocolate packets — caught the attention of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) authorities at the airport on Friday.
Gold bars weighing 3.4 kg had been cut into pieces and concealed in the chocolate packets. The packets were found in the hand baggage of a passenger. DRI officials had been tipped off about a smuggler arriving from Muscat. Authorities were waiting at the entry of the aerobridge and managed to secure the passenger before he could enter the security hold area.
