Pills to reduce fatigue in fighter pilots

Bangalore: Now, fighter pilots can breathe easy while in the air. The Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) has introduced pills for aircrew personnel that can be utilised to achieve peak performance. The pills will help them work for extended hours without the fear of fatigue or poor situational awareness.

The pills are believed to help pilots during their waking and relaxation hours. Several new measures were proposed by the IAM to increase the efficiency of aviators, while ensuring that they stay in good health.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 54th Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine (ISAM), Air Marshal A K Behl, president of the society and the Director General of Medical services (DGMS) Air, said, "High levels of skills go into flying and experts have been trying to find a way to reduce the pain of ejection. We have launched a project with DRDO where we will introduce a golf cap for aviators with sensors attached to it. The sensors will pick up eye movements and skin resistance when the aviator comes from a mission briefing."
