PM’s aircraft flies home for maintenance

Ahmedabad:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aircraft has touched home-base for servicing at the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the city airport. This is the first time that the maintenance and repair work of an aircraft ferrying the Indian PM is being done locally in the country.

The MRO facility was inaugurated at the city airport in February this year and is handling the servicing of Embraer Executive Jet ERJ-135 which belongs to Indian Air Force (IAF) and is used by Modi for small trips.

"We have got the Embraer jet for servicing at our facility in Ahmedabad. As per IAF officials, PM uses this aircraft for travelling shorter distances," said Saurabh Patel, minister of civil aviation, Gujarat. Patel further said that in less than six months MRO facility at Ahmedabad has handled seven planes, including Hawker, Bombardier and Embraer.
