SpiceJet has announced the reopening of flight bookings from Mysore, and will now provide connectivity to 11 cities in the country from August 21 via Bangalore.
The airline had earlier announced the closure of its operations from Mysore with effect from September 1, 2014 citing poor patronage, but political pressure and appeal from stakeholders forced the flight operator to reconsider its decision.
A SpiceJet press release said the airline would connect Mysore to 11 cities, including four metros. Passengers travelling from Kochi, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Belgaum, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam and New Delhi can travel to Mysore via Bangalore. It is also offering a promotional one-way fares starting at Rs. 2,499.
Kaneswaran Avili, chief commercial officer, SpiceJet Ltd., said, “We are pleased to reopen bookings for our Mysore operations on requests from our customers flying in and out of the city, local travel agents and government officials, who have said they will work with us to ensure flight performance improves. This service starts at an opportune time with festivities round the corner, and I hope this will help our customers to make the most from this occasion.”
