5 held for duping youths by promising them jobs

Aurangabad: The Kranti Chowk police have arrested a gang of five people for allegedly duping scores of youths from across the country to the tune of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of promising them jobs with the Airport Authority of India.

Police suspect that the arrested accused are part of an inter-state gang that has allegedly cheated several youths using the same modus operandi.

The incident came to light last week after one of the youths who had paid over Rs 3,000 to the fake firm. When he cross-checked the offer made by the firm with the airport authorities, he found it to be fake.

The arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Rathod of Kajali village in Nagpur district, Virendra Singh Diwan Singh of Sonipat in Haryana, Sumit Kumar and Krishnadhar Mishra of Wardha and Kapil Gautam, a resident of New Delhi. The accused were produced before a local court on Monday that remanded them in police custody till September 19.
