Tiruchi: An automated Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) will soon be put in place at the Tiruchi international airport by bringing together important stakeholders for advanced planning and optimum utilisation of available resources to benefit travellers.
Airlines, ground handlers, Customs, Immigration and security agencies would be brought under a common platform under the AOCC which aims at providing hassle free service to passengers arriving at Tiruchi from various overseas and domestic destinations.
Equipment required for the AOCC has been acquired and training is currently underway for a team of Tiruchi airport staff prior to commissioning the centre.
Tiruchi is one among the 10 airports in the country where the AOCC is to be set up by the Airports Authority of India.
The centre would be connected to the Air Traffic Services automation system at the airport from where it would collect real time data of flights and their estimated time of arrival at the Tiruchi airport and update them in the FIDS (Flight Information Display System).
