Delhi airport extends support to Kashmir flood victims

New Delhi: In its ongoing efforts to provide assistance to the flood hit victims of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here has dispatched the first lot of six high power, sophisticated de-watering pumps to the state.

According to the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the company which manages IGIA, the 100 HP diesel de-watering pump equipment has the capacity to drain up to seven lakh litres of water per hour.

The company has also dispatched a team of six trained operators to handle the machines which were air lifted by the Indian Air Force's C-17 aircraft.

Apart for the equipment aid, DIAL has also extended support to passengers from the flood hit state by providing food, taxi fare, railway tickets and survival money to the victims.
