Surat: Flight movement at the Surat airport was normal, despite the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) discontinuing the supply of 'on wheel' ATF to the aircrafts from Monday.
Official sources at the airport said that the flight operations were normal without any cancellations or delays. Both the airlines—Spice Jet and Air India—took contingency measures for the smooth movements between Surat, Delhi and other long distance destinations. Both the airlines have tied up with ESSAR for the supply of ATF fuel during the time of emergency.
The Spice Jet and Air India are the two airlines operating from the Surat airport. While Spice Jet provides daily two flights to destinations like Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Thiruvananthpuram, Goa via Mumbai and Delhi respectively, the Air India operates thrice a week on the Surat-Delhi sector.
