HC notice to centre on Haj pilgrims plight

Nagpur: Taking a serious cognisance of inconvenience caused to Haj Pilgrims, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, on Friday, issued notices to the respondents, including union civil aviation ministry and Maharashtra government. A division bench comprising Justices Vasanti Naik and Pukhraj Bora asked them to file reply within three weeks.

The plight of Haj Pilgrims on Wednesday was highlighted by print and electronic media after which the court had taken suo Motu cognisance and asked registry to file a suo Motu petition in public interest. The pilgrims suffered as Air India flight was delayed for over 16 hours due to technical snag.
