Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Wednesday directed the state government to provide within 48 hours health screening facilities for Ebola cases at Pune and Nagpur airports on a par with those at Mumbai. A division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Girish Kulkarni cautioned the state against any delay, while hearing a PIL by activist Ketan Tirodkar questioning the preparedness of the government.
Centre's advocate Rui Rodrigues said passengers who have visited or transited through the affected countries in the last 21 days are required for mandatory screening at the health counters at the airport. He informed that while there are no flights arriving from West African countries at Aurangabad airport, Pune airport daily receives six flights and Nagpur airport receives three flights. "These are not direct flights; they arrive from Dubai and Sharjah."
