Trichy: Immigration officials on Wednesday nabbed a 34-year-old passenger for trying to smuggle gold worth Rs 11 lakh into the country by concealing it inside the sole of his shoes and socks.
Akbar Ali, who arrived from Kuala Lumpur in a Singapore Airlines flight on Wednesday, is a resident of Santhome in Chennai. Immigration authorities, found 12 bars of gold weighing around 400 gram concealed in the sole of Akabr Ali's shoes and socks.
