AAI Cites Hurdles for Visakhapatnam Airport Expansion

Visakhapatnam:  Air Travellers Association (India) (ATAI) president D Varada Reddy said that executive director (Planning) of Airport Authority of India (AAI) Kalpana Sethi had written a letter to the ATAI.

The ED said that the delay in starting cargo operations at the airport was due to the conversion of the old passenger terminal building.

However, the stalemate seems to be continuing for several reasons, including non-bestowal of custody of the international cargo facility in favour of the AAI by the Customs despite vigorous follow-ups by the AAI. Adding to that was the unresolved issue of cost recovery charges levied by the Customs on the custodians which has been raised in the Air Cargo Logistics Promotion Board in the past several months, the ED said.
