Bomb Threat Fails to Affect AI Services

Aluva: The flights of Air India are operating as per the schedule from Kochi airport, and there is no decline in the passenger volume, following the hoax bomb threat, said officials of the airline here on Saturday. “All the eight business class seats and the 113 economy class seats in the Kochi-bound flight were occupied,” said an Air India spokesperson, adding that the airline did not incur any immediate loss due to the bomb threat as all the reservations were made well in advance, and that the passengers had reported in time.

“The only issue is that there might be losses in the future if there are rumours that Air India flights are targets of bomb attacks,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) authorities assured that the airport did not incur any revenue loss.

“No red alert was announced, and all the counters at the airport were functioning normally. Since we already have a world-class safety mechanism in place, it was not difficult to beef-up security,” the authorities noted. Bomb threats, the majority of which being hoax calls, are becoming a common occurrence at airports across the country. CIAL authorities claim that they get at least one bomb threat call every month.
