Raipur: Amid most parts of Chhattisgarh witnessing strong winds and heavy rainfall with many trees uprooted at Gariyaband and Bastar region, Bilaspur and Kanker districts received very heavy rainfall leading to blockage of roads and collapse of bridges.
Chief minister Raman Singh's plane coming from Nagpur couldn't land at Raipur airport due to heavy rainfall, after which Singh had to return to Nagpur.
Due to Cyclone Hudhud which hit the coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, railways at Bastar came to a standstill on Sunday and Monday with four trains for Jagdalpur remained cancelled. Other trains like Durg-Jagdalpur, Samleshwari express, Vishakapatnam-Kirandul express remained cancelled.
Bastar has till now received 70 mm railfall.
Hudhud almost hit Raipur post midnight while weather remained cloudy with light rainfall from Sunday evening. According to weather scientists, cyclone is getting weaker as it moves further and its impact wouldn't cause much damage to Chhattisgarh.
