Mysore: In the coming days, security apparatus at Mysore?Airport at Mandakalli here will get a boost with ‘third eye’ helping the men in khaki to keep a tab on the airport complex.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI), New Delhi, has launched the works on installing 35 closed circuit TV?cameras at the airport, at an estimated cost of Rs one crore. The works launched a month ago at the terminal centre, is in the nascent stages. The installation is expected to be completed by December. Mysore Airport is one among the 13 airports in the country including Belgaum in the State and Salem in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu where similar work is being executed, Director of the Airport C?Manjunath told Deccan Herald.
Out of the total cameras planned to be installed, as many as 20 of them will cover the lounge, 12 will be installed at the terminal building, followed by the main gate and parking lot, covering a radius of three km to five km within the precincts of the Airport.
Unlike the current set up, where the dedicated 40 member odd police force is keeping a vigil laying more emphasis on physical duty, once the cameras are commissioned, managing the day to day security matters will be less cumbersome.
