Nagpur: During his election speech at Kasturchand Park, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to sell the Mihan dream, but it seems the very concept on which this ambitious project was based over a decade ago has become obsolete.
Multimodal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN), as the name suggests was supposed to be mainly a logistics project with the special economic zone (SEZ) as a supportive facility. But the former remains a far cry. Even the groups strongly lobbying for the project now feel that Mihan needs to be revamped.
All that Mihan remains to be, is a special economic zone (SEZ), with the developer being able to dispose of only half of the land to investors. Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), the agency developing Mihan is known to have one of the biggest land parcels available for a project in the country.
