Snag delays civil aviation minister's AI flight to Vizag

New Delhi:  Technical faults and delays in the arrival of cabin crew have often made Air India passengers to wait beyond their flight take-off schedules. On Wednesday, it was civil aviation minister Ashok Ganapathi Raju whose Vishakhapatnam-bound flight could not take off on time due to similar reasons.

The Air India flight, AI 451, was scheduled to take off from the IGI at 3.20pm. Sources said that the airline discovered a snag and arranged for a new aircraft. Then the pilot took time to reach the new aircraft, which caused delays in the schedule of the minister, along with other passengers, who were waiting to take off from Delhi. However, senior officials in the airline denied that the pilot had reported for duty late. Refuting airport sources who said that the delay in minister's schedule was around 20 minutes, airline officials said that the issue was resolved in 10 minutes.

"There was only a technical delay in the aircraft that was initially meant to fly to Vishakhapatnam. Our staff detected the fault while bringing the aircraft to the runway. Another plane was arranged for immediately and and it was brought to the runway with a delay of not more than 10 minutes. Our pilot had reported for duty on time," said an official of Air India.
