Weekly aircraft movement to go up to 1,078 at Kochi Airport

Kochi: The weekly aircraft movement at the city airport during the winter will go up to 1,078, including 479 in the International sector.

While the domestic sector will see 599 operations a week at the Kochi Airport, in the International sector it would be 479 during the winter schedule, effective from October 25 to March 28, next year.
Apart from this, CIAL has started discussions with the newly introduced Air Pegasus to operate services to Chennai and Bangalore. The company is also in dialogue with Air India and Air Asia India to commence direct flight services to Goa, a Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) press release said.

As many as 23 airlines are now operating services in Kochi. Many of them have increased the frequency the effect of which is more visible in domestic sector, wherein the total aircraft movement will be raised from 533 to 599. This will still get going with the commencement of operations of Air Pegasus to Bangalore, Chennai routes and the introduction of new sectors by Air India and Air Asia India.

The new schedule indicates that Bangalore is the most frequented city to which there will be 89 aircraft movements from Kochi. Mondays and Wednesdays will have 14 operations each.
