28 cr allocated for reconstruction of perimeter wall

Surat: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has allocated Rs 28 crore for the reconstruction of perimeter wall surrounding the 312 hectares of Surat airport area and taking up other infrastructural projects to strengthen internal security. AAI officials were not available for comments but sources at the airport said that the funds have been allocated to protect the airport from being trespassed by man and stray animals.

Sources said that this is the first phase of allocation and AAI is planning to increase the funds up to Rs 65 crore in the coming days for improving the facilities at the airport.
