Andaman and Nicobar to introduce two flights at subsidised rates

Port Blair:  The Andaman and Nicobar administration will introduce two flights with subsidised fares for the islanders from next month, Lt Governor, Lt General (retd) A K Singh has said.

Singh was addressing the valedictory function of the Quami Ekta Saptah at Dr B R Ambedkar Auditorium here on Tuesday.
The chartered Air India jet flight in the Port Blair-Chennai sector will commence on Dec 20, 2014 offering uniform fare of Rs 5000/- for a one-way travel to islanders. The 150 passenger capacity aircraft will operate once a week in the sector, he said.

Likewise, the air connectivity on the Port Blair-Vizag sector will become operational from December 24, 2014.

The flight will connect Port Blair to New Delhi via Vizag and will be operational thrice a week. Operated under VGF (Viability Gap Funding) scheme, seats would be reserved for islanders and uniform airfare of Rs 5000/- for a one-way trip will be offered to islanders, the LG informed.
