Diamantaires' dreams to fly high grounded

Surat:  Surat diamantaires, who were keen on increased domestic connectivity and international flights, came crashing down on Thursday when the SpiceJet plane was hit by a buffalo.

The diamond barons, who are working on the prestigious Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) project to be developed at Dream City in Khajod, were excited when the state's minister for civil aviation Saurabh Patel had taken up the proposal of international airport at Surat with his central counterpart Ashok Raju and direct flight from Surat to Dubai.
"It is a very serious incident with wider implications in the civil aviation sector. This is something that the airline companies would avoid at such unsecured airports like Surat. Our dream for international airport and more domestic connectivity to important destinations like Bengaluru and Kolkata has been grounded" said a diamond baron.
